2026-27 Medical, Allied Health, Public and Private Hospital fees

The 2026-27 fees have been approved and published by the Minister for Industrial Relations in the South Australian Government Gazette. These will come into effect on 1 July 2026.

Schedules are available to download from the ReturnToWorkSA website in Word, PDF and Excel format.

The following table illustrates the fee increases for each of the relevant services:

Effective 1 July 2026, fitting and follow up fees have been unbundled, with changes as tabulated below:

NEW Monaural/Telehealth Monaural Follow Up: Follow-up reviews and appropriate fine tuning and education to ensure optimal outcomes for 1 year after audiological intervention, up to a maximum of 2.5 hours. Each service to be billed on a pro rata basis rounded to the nearest 6 minutes.

Audiologists: $248.10 per hour

Audiometrists: $222.70 per hour

Max. 2.5 hours

AU107/AUTE7

NEW Binaural/Telehealth Binaural Follow Up: Follow-up reviews and appropriate fine tuning and education to ensure optimal outcomes for 1 year after audiological intervention, up to a maximum of 3.5 hours. Each service to be billed on a pro rata basis rounded to the nearest 6 minutes.

Audiologists: $248.10 per hour

Audiometrists: $222.70 per hour

Max. 3.5 hours

Minor adjustments have also been made to the fee descriptors of other fees to reflect these changes.

Additional changes include:

  • Inclusion of Real Ear Measurement results
  • Fitting with minimum of 10dB headroom across 500-4000Hz
  • Workers are no longer required to complete a section of the Request for Replacement and Repair of Hearing Aids form. This form is now only for practitioners.

ReturnToWorkSA and the claims agents will be actively monitoring these new requirements to ensure understanding and adherence to the fee schedule and policy.

Other schedule updates

Minor changes have been made to other schedules including:

  • Ophthalmology Permanent Impairment Assessments are now categorised as “complex”
  • There have been increases of 40% for the fees for Gym, Joint Gym and Aquatic and Remedial Massage. Please consult the schedules for further information.
